USS Lake Erie vs. Satellite
In February 2008, a missile fired from the Aegis class cruiser USS Lake Erie, several hundred kilometers northwest of Hawaii, blasted high into the sky and a few minutes later destroyed a malfunctioning top-secret American satellite. The operation was known as “Burnt Frost,”
Information about Burnt Frost was recently declassified and published at thespacereview.com. It’s an interesting read considering the USS Lake Erie’s relationship with Put-in-Bay over the years. Passenger Vessel Association Great Lakes Region to Meet on PIB
The Passenger Vessel Association Great Lake Region will hold its 2021 meeting here on Put-in-Bay October 18th through 20th. PVA Great Lakes Region Meeting presents an outstanding opportunity for PVA members to gather and exchange information and discuss trends and issues affecting their operations and the passenger vessel industry at-large. Members will travel to South Bass Island aboard the Miller Ferry. Membership and registration is required.

The Battle of Lake Erie fought between the Americans and a British fleet to the northwest of Put-in-Bay on September 10th, 1813, began at 11:45 in the morning and ended shortly after 3 in the afternoon.
Between 80-90% of the water coming into Lake Erie each year comes from the upper Great Lakes through the Detroit River.
Pelee Township in Canada just north of the border consists of nine islands in the western basin of Lake Erie, Pelee Island being the largest.
