Located in a historic building that has undergone recent renovations to make it cozier and more welcoming, the Fish Bowl has become a favorite hangout for visitors to Put-in-Bay. This fun, quirky bar that offers beers in giant fishbowl vessels has a wonderful staff that eagerly caters to guests.
Come in for the delicious drinks, but stay for the food -- it’s sure not to disappoint. Try an appetizer such as the Lake Erie Walleye Nuggets, Sauerkraut Balls or Potato Cakes and follow it up with a locally-sourced fish basket or a nice, juicy steak. But don’t fret, kiddos, there are a number of offerings such as chicken fingers and onion rings for the younger crowd. The Fish Bowl also offers the legendary Mossbacks' burgers -- they’re all so tempting, visitors often have difficulty choosing which one to sink their teeth into. For the thirsty visitors, try one of the many great craft beers or for something with a little more bite, go for a Shark Shot.
The Fish Bowl is located next to Mossbacks in the Valentine Doller building. Valentine Doller, a former Put-in-Bay resident, first came to the island in the 1800s, and became a prominent figure. He was the first postmaster, worked in the clerk of courts, was a founding trustee of the Village and even served as mayor. The Valentine Doller building is located on Catawba avenue, just across from DeRivera Park and a short distance from the Jet Express ferry terminal.
Don’t forget to include the Fish Bowl on your list of destinations during your visit to Put-in-Bay! It’s the perfect stop after a day wandering around town or parasailing by the water.
