Perry’s Cave is one of the flagship attractions in Put-In-Bay. This nationally registered Ohio Natural Landmark is a limestone cave 52 feet below the surface of South Bass Island in Lake Erie. Visitors can take tours of the majestic cave, and learn how it was formed, its historical significance, and find the perfect souvenir at the Gift Shop.
There are spectacular views of calcium carbonate formations lining the cave. A rare underground lake boasts water levels that ebb and flow in sync with Lake Erie. This is truly a sight to behold. Plan ahead and wear comfortable rubber-soled shoes and a light layer. The cool 50° year-round subterranean temperature may surprise you. After your tour, head back above ground and check out some of the interesting onsite activities, such as The Butterfly House, Fort aMaze’n giant walk-thru maze challenge, Rock Wall, and more!
Things to Explore at Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center:
The Butterfly House is a 4,000 sq. ft. aviary, adorned with lush foliage, fragrant flowers, and more than 50 different types of exotic butterflies. Get up close with butterflies and create unforgettable memories. After your butterfly expedition is complete, pick up the pace and test your skill at the newly opened Rock Wall. Can you reach the top?
