If you want to enjoy a weekend at Put-in-Bay, you've got to get there first! And if you're bringing a car, you've only got one choice. The Miller Boat Line has a fleet of four ferries to get you and your vehicle to and from Put-in-Bay. It departs from Catawba Island (don't worry about the name, you can get there by car) and arrives at the Lime Kiln Dock at Put-in-Bay. The trip takes just about 20 minutes. For directions to the mainland dock, check their website or use the address above on Google Maps.

Miller Ferry History and Information

The Miller Boat Line began as Miller Boat Livery, harvesting ice from Lake Erie and offering a water taxi. Over the years, the Miller Boat Livery became the main avenue from the mainland to Put-in-Bay. Rebranded in the 1960's as Miller Boat Line, the focus became passenger transport as Put-in-Bay experienced a resurgence as a marquee vacation destination. Today, the Miller Boat Line serves the island with ferries, freight and UPS service.

Once a year, the Miller Boat Line hosts a Stargazing Cruise. On the cruise, guests can enjoy wine and snacks provided by Put-in-Bay establishments and enjoy unparalleled views of the stars. Hosts will be moving around the deck, pointing out constellations and sharing stories about the stars as well as the islands. The Miller Boat Line also sponsors the Annual Miller Boat Line 5K, a run through Put-in-Bay with the proceeds going to Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Miller Ferry is the only way to bring your car up to the island with you. For vehicle guidelines and more detailed information, including a downloadable brochure, be sure to check out their website. During the summer months, the ferries leave every half hour from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, with additional trips in the evening on weekends and during certain peak days. The Miller Ferry website is also the place to stay up-to-date with the Miller Ferry schedule.
